The season of love is upon us . . . yet it’s the middle of the winter and dry harsh weather is probably wreaking havoc on your skin. Don’t let that stop you though from feeling and looking your best! Get healthy glowing skin with these three simple tips.

Dry brush your body: The skin on the body often gets neglected (especially in the winter). A dry brush will slough off dead flaky skin and stimulate the circulatory and lymphatic system. An easy habit to adopt is to regularly dry brush your body before hopping in the shower, even if it’s only a few times a week. After showering while your skin is still damp, follow up by slathering on a lotion or oil (like sweet almond oil). Tip: keep a pump bottle of oil or body lotion next to the shower so you don’t forget to apply it!

Massage your face: Facial massage relaxes and tones muscles, brings blood and oxygen to the skin increasing collagen production, and helps the absorption of products –which makes them way more effective! At night after you moisturize, get into the habit of massaging your face, neck, and décolletage after you cleanse. Use pure plant based oils like argan or rosehip, always move in an upward lifting motion, and be careful not to pull or drag the skin. Try Leaves of Trees, Argan Oil which can be found at our Innate Wellness Annex Location.

Use hydroxy acids and fruit enzymes – Most people know exfoliators as those tubes of gritty gooey stuff sitting neglected in the bathroom cabinet. Scrubs can be effective at physically exfoliating the skin, but the real stars are acids and enzymes. Naturally occurring hydroxy acids (like malic acid from apples) and fruit enzymes (like bromelain from pineapples) are extremely effective at penetrating the outer layer of the skin and dissolving the ‘anchors’ holding dead skin cells together which allows them to slough off. They are especially great for clearing up congestion (black heads and white heads), brightening complexions, and lightening acne scars and dark spots. They are also a good option for acne prone and easily inflamed skin since there is no physical abrasion, unlike a scrub.

Try the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask one to three times per week to get an instant glow. The mask uses a mix of pink French clay, pomegranate enzymes, and white willow (a type of beta hydroxy acid) to deeply purify and decongest dull, lack-luster skin. Follow up by using Tata Harper’s Hydrating Floral Essence and Reparative Moisturizer and your skin will be so dewy and hydrated, it will glow for days!
